MEMES FOR THE
21ST CENTURY

If this was a real book it could  be cast in stone and be a statue to be wondered at.
But because all memes live in an electronic clouds and are modifiable
they can be changed and added to for all eternity.
Beliefs like theories should never last forever!

(EO3 2010)

A Meme
  1. A cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one person to another by non-genetic means (as by imitation and copying using all the five senses).
  2. Memes are the cultural counterpart of Genes

A Gene

  1. (Genetics) A segment of DNA that is involved in producing a polypeptide chain;
  2. it can include regions preceding and following the coding DNA as well as introns between the exons;
  3. it is considered a unit of heredity which modifies our biological replication.

Welcome. If you have found this site you are on the path to understanding what and who you are.

We the human race are to all intents and purpose multi-cellular organisms comprising of multitudes of cells working in harmony with each other. All our cells share the same genetic code and it is possible they can replicate complete duplicates of me or you from a just one of our cells. These billions of cells generally work in harmony with each other - where billions of people have great difficulty working with each other even when they have agreed to follow a simple set of rules. We even have specialist cells that group together to form our organs and fluids, and a complicated nervous system, some even manufacture bones so that we can cope with gravity and be mobile. All of these groups work symbiotically with each other so that they can survive. But we also have a cellular group of cells that think and the electrical impulses they create and the actions that follow is what Memes are all about.

Genes and Memes are both Replicators. Either can ensure or destroy our future!

There are clever people say that genes rule and that we evolve only through our genetic code. But the ideas in our heads replicate and evolve faster than our genes do. There are even memes that make us destroy ourselves which is at odds with our groups of cells that only want to be what they are. The acts of suicide bombers as well as soldiers blowing themselves and others to pieces are driven by the memes in their minds or the heads of those that give the orders to do this or that. These memes are not genetically or evolutionary viable for the people who participate in such acts. But if those memes survive in sufficient numbers they define which memes will dominate our multi cell biology, until of course new ideas can be  created that replace these destructive memes and allow us and our cells to evolve into all we can be. We need to realise that what we think creates all possible futures good or bad and it all starts inside our heads.

The meme factory is a place to bank creative ideas that can be used to evolve and create constructive memes that can replace the destructive memes and memeplexes that infect us all. There are good memes and bad memes and it can be difficult to define which ones are which. People who think a lot will understand the differences and act to control those that are destructive. Be aware that thinking along with decisions and actions is what it all about as these creates our reality and the life we live.

A meme is any idea that you can think about and pass on to others. So how many of the ideas whirling around inside of your head actually belong to you. How many of them are so infectious that you tell everyone about. Some of those ideas/Memes in your head are thousands of years old and have been passed on through books and generational stories  - most have never been tested for validity. Memes that stand the test of time do not have to be true and many of these are lies or stories that we believe to be true these can be used to gain advantage or control over you and me.

Your ideas, memes and comments can and will make a difference.
